In spite of its comic book plot and characters, The Dark Knight addresses serious human rights abuses, including mass surveillance and other privacy violations that are a tragic hallmark of the Digital Age.

The film was directed by Christopher Nolan, produced by Emma Thomas and stars Christian Bale, Michael Crane, Heath Ledger, Gary Oldman, Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Morgan Freeman.
