Captain America – Winter Soldier examines the dangerous temptation to trade freedom for the perception (real or imagined) of greater security. Throughout history, the abuse of state power has been the single greatest source of human rights violations. This timely film asks us all to consider when the “cure” of expanded state power in the name of public safety and security is worse than the disease. Produced by Walt Disney Studios, the film is based on the Marvel Comics character Captain America. Captain America: The Winter Soldiert stars Chris Evans as Captain America, leading an ensemble cast that includes Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Emily VanCamp, Hayley Atwell, Robert Redford, and Samuel L. Jackson.
